You probably need a smaller server

· Baaams Studio

We get asked about Kubernetes a lot. For the kind of products we build, the honest answer is usually: not yet, and maybe never.

A single virtual machine with a reverse proxy, the application, a database and nightly off-site backups will serve tens of thousands of users a day. It is cheaper, easier to reason about and much easier to hand over.

We size by measuring, not guessing: a week of real traffic, the 95th percentile of response time and memory headroom of at least 40%. When a project outgrows that, the move is obvious and well understood.
